Community Wide Safety Drill

Jeff Davis Hospital participated in a community wide safety drill on Tuesday, February 12th. Jeff Davis EMA in coordination with the Hazlehurst Police Department, Jeff Davis Sheriff's department, Jeff Davis Fire Department, Jeff Davis EMS, Georgia State Patrol, and Jeff Davis Hospital planned the drill over the course of several months.

The drill took place at Jeff Davis High School at 8:30 a.m., staff and students participated in a full-scale active shooter exercise, that involved activating safety procedures in order to enhance emergency preparedness. Seven Jeff Davis High School students volunteered to be "victims," and moulage kits were used by Telfair County EMS to make the injuries look as realistic as possible. The "victims' were transported by EMS and Hazlehurst Police Department to Jeff Davis Hospital. The "victims" went through the triage process and were then taken into the Emergency Department.

This exercise was very beneficial for Jeff Davis Hospital and everyone involved. Jeff Davis Hospital seeks to build partnerships and working relationships with the community and we are very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this exercise.
